Birchwood Labradoodles GUARDIAN PROGRAM

Guardian Home Opportunities

There will be guardian home opportunities this winter, please contact us if you are interested.

Guardian Home

Our Guardian Home Program allows you to have a "pick of the litter" puppy without the initial expenditure. Birchwood Labradoodles would retain ownership and all breeding rights during their breeding career, but the puppy would go home with the guardian family at 8 weeks and forever be a part of their family. The guardian dog would periodically return to the breeder for required health testing and during breeding/whelping cycles. Once their breeding career is over, the guardian family would have the dog spayed/neutered and ownership would be fully transferred to them.

Requirements to Become a Guardian Family

  • Guardian Home must reside within an hour and a half of Coastal Southern New Hampshire
  • Outdoor fencing at the Guardian Family's home is required or guarantee that the Guardian Dog will be leashed at all times outdoors
  • There must be no other intact dogs on the Guardian Home's premise
  • Guardian Family's work schedule should be flexible enough to ensure that the Guardian Dog is not left alone for any prolonged length of time

Guardian Home Responsibilities

Guardian Home Families are responsible for the general routine veterinary care and wellness of the Guardian puppy/dog placed with them.  This includes annual vaccines, feeding approved high quality dog food, grooming, monthly heart worm prevention, flea/tick prevention, training, regular exercise and socialization. All breeding related health testing and expenses would be the responsibility of Birchwood Labradoodles.
